A huge thanks for Schweppes for their ongoing support of CrossFit Queanbeyan, on of our sponsors from Judgement Day

Judegement Day – Rundown

ONE week to go!!

The “Judgement Day” for Charity is a community based charity event hosted by CrossFit Queanbeyan.

The purpose of the event is firstly to raise money for SIDS and also to provide CrossFitters and locals with an opportunity to compete, and secondly provide the local community the opportunity to watch quality competition. It is in no way associated with the CrossFit Games, nor is it intended to be a comprehensive test of fitness. It is simply a competition to be enjoyed by athletes and spectators alike. We encourage the community to come together and use the day as an opportunity to appreciate the amazing growth and impact of CrossFit for the general population in this country.

RULES

2012 ‘Judgement Day” Charity CrossFit Challenge

General

  • The workouts are simple but challenging. They have been designed to test work capacity and the athlete that wins will be the one that is the most consistent. The environment is very much part of the competition. Managing the challenges created by the location will play a part.

Be prepared for anything.

  • You cannot wear football boots or any footwear that has tags or sprigs
  • Bring water, sunscreen and hat,
  • Bring extra clothing, towels etc
  • Bring a towel or mat if you are allergic to grass!!

Rules

  • The judges decision is final, no discussion will be entered into over the referees call
  • Cheating, in any form, will not be tolerated. Movement Standards are set to be abided by
  • Treat the judges and officials with respect. We will not tolerate bad or childish behaviour

General Movement Standards (refer to detail below for specific rules)

  • It is up to the athlete to prove to the judge that they are meeting the movement standards, not the other way around
  • The judges will be instructed that “if there is any doubt there is no doubt”, ie. if they are not sure if the rep is good, they MUST call “no-rep”
  • The judge will acknowledge a good rep by saying the count (eg “4”). If you don’t hear a count it means that you haven’t finished the rep
  • If the judge sees something that invalidates the rep they will call “no-rep”
  • Satisfying the judges is easy, simply do the movement the way it is meant to be done and demonstrate full range of motion

Safety

  • Safety first!! We will stop any athlete who is placing themselves, or others at risk. The head judges have the discretion to make the call on stopping an athlete if they cannot correct potentially dangerous movement.
  • You must keep equipment under control at all times. Throwing equipment or failing to keep it under control will result in “no Rep” being called, and there will be disqualification for repeated infringement

Notes

  • “Judgement Day” will be run in heats of 5 – 10 athletes
  • The athletes will be allocated randomly to each heat
  • EVERY athlete will also be judging other athletes!! NO excuses…
  • There are three workouts + a top 5 shootout, your points will accumulate across the day to decide the winners
  • Athletes will compete in all three workouts, there will be no reduction in the field until the Top 5 shootout
  • Points will be allocated for each workout based on finishing order – you can keep up to date with the scores after each round live @ http://www.crossfitgamesday.com.au/

I look forward to meeting you all next week for a fun day!!
